chess24 was launched in 2014 and has grown into the best destination for watching top chess tournaments and enjoying the highest quality chess content online. Play Magnus, an Oslo-based company backed by World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, also launched in 2014, and in March 2019 the two companies combined forces. Play Magnus brings expertise in mobile apps and education along with the direct involvement of arguably the greatest chess player of all time. The goal remains to deliver the world’s best chess experience.
- We are looking for an experienced VP to oversee the marketing operations of the company and develop its strategy and vision.

**Responsibilities**:

- Listen to the trends of the market and direct the market research efforts of the company
- Define marketing strategies to support the company’s overall strategies and objectives
- Develop a feasible marketing plan for the department and oversee its day-to-day implementation
- Plan, organize and own marketing functions and operations (product marketing, brand marketing, and growth marketing. )
- Design and coordinate promotional campaigns, communications, PR and other marketing efforts across channels.
- Ensure they project the company’s unique “voice”
- Build and expand our network of strategic partnershipsSet, monitor and report on individual marketing channel goals

**Requirements**:

- Chess background is a mandatory requirement for this role, we need Chess lovers :)
- Proven experience as chief marketing officer or similar role
- Solid knowledge of web analytics and Google Adwords
- Demonstrable experience developing efficient strategies and business plans for all marketing aspects (branding, product promotion etc.)
- Solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods
- Understanding of different business disciplines (IT, finance etc.)
- Ability to work cooperatively with others, up and down the hierarchy and especially with peers from other companies and roles within the group.
- A leader with both creative and analytical capabilities
- Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities
- BSc/BA in business administration, marketing, communications or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus.
- Understanding of fundamental growth loops which drive acquisition and retention.
- Reforge graduates preferred.
