About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Category Manager to join our team at Siemens Rail Automation S.A.U. in Madrid. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing the commodity of Civil works & Installation & Commissioning for Signaling and Electrification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Commodities: Oversee the global management of commodities, ensuring alignment with cross-functional teams to optimize supplier data and commodity structure.
  • Define Commodity Strategy: Develop and implement commodity strategies in alignment with senior management, focusing on installation service productivity and cost reduction.
  • Internal Stakeholders: Lead interdisciplinary work groups to achieve sustainable competitiveness, collaborating with regional units, purchasing departments, and other internal stakeholders.
  • PVO Transparency: Ensure global transparency of Purchasing Volume (PVO) through correct ESN coding, enabling accurate reporting and informed commodity strategy.
  • Commodity Strategies and Pooling: Define and implement strategies based on demand, market, and supplier analyses, evaluating and documenting in the Commodity Strategy Master (CSM).
  • Negotiations and Contracts: Develop negotiation concepts and strategies to maximize savings, negotiating and creating frame contracts and project contracts with suppliers.
  • e-Procurement: Foster the use of eProcurement tools, such as eRfX and eAuction/eBidding.
  • Knowledge Management: Systematically forward procurement-related project information to keep project participants up-to-date.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify procurement risks, opportunities, and market forces, evaluating financial risks within suppliers and sustainability.
  • Supplier Management: Perform supplier management, including selection, documentation, communication, regular evaluations, qualification, and development to obtain and develop the best suppliers.
Requirements
  • Degree or Master in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Civil Works, or similar.
  • Deep knowledge in Telecommunications, Signaling, Civil Works, Cables & Power Supplies Installation.
  • Interest or experience in Railway Infrastructure systems, Signaling, and Commissioning.
  • Fluent speaking and writing level of Spanish and English.
  • More than 4 years of proven experience as Category Manager (Strategic Purchasing) in the contracting of site installation services.
  • Project management and field experience, with mastery of installation phases in railway and/or energy projects.
  • Solid Contract Management skills.
  • Professional level of: SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Systematic use of know-how to solve complex problems, demonstrating high professional judgment competence.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Availability to travel.
