Senior Corporate Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Corporate Accountant to join our team at Robert Walters Spain. As a key member of our Accounting Control team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial reports to ensure the business operates in alignment with our financial policies and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements, in compliance with German accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns, including VAT, income tax, and corporate tax, for our medium-sized German subsidiary.
- Stay updated on changes in German tax laws and regulations, ensuring our financial operations remain compliant.
- Assist in the preparation of written budgets and reports as needed, providing insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
- Establish internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements and ensure the accuracy of our financial reporting.
- Coordinate internal and statutory external audits, preparing supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries as needed.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, providing actionable insights to drive business decisions.
- Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting or Financial Management.
- B2+ German speaking level.
- General understanding of computerized accounting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and make well-judged decisions.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English.
- Strategic mindset, with a keen sense of priorities and the ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
- Strong interpersonal relationship building skills, with a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
- A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Practices discretion in all corporate matters.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP systems considered an asset.
- Technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and Excel.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
