Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the Institute of Cosmos Sciences at the University of Barcelona. As a pre-doctoral support researcher, you will be part of the ERC-funded project CET-3PO, focusing on the study of the common envelope phase in massive binaries via observations of luminous red novae (LRNe) transients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the research group with target selection and observations
  • Apply for telescope time and develop data reduction pipelines
  • Perform data reduction tasks for photometry, spectroscopy, and polarization data
  • Conduct multi-wavelength analysis using time-domain survey data for transients of interest
Requirements
  • MSc in astronomy or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Selection Process

A specific committee will evaluate applications based on the eligibility criteria. The award proposal will be published in the UB's electronic office, and the candidate proposed for hiring must accept the job offer within 10 working days from the date of notification of the selection.
