Researcher Position in Time-Domain Astronomy

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our team at the Institute of Cosmos Sciences at the University of Barcelona. The successful candidate will work on the ERC-funded project CET-3PO, focusing on the study of the common envelope phase in massive binaries via observations of luminous red novae (LRNe) transients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support with target selection and observations
  • Application for telescope time
  • Development of data reduction pipelines
  • Data reduction tasks for photometry, spectroscopy, and polarization data
  • Multi-wavelength analysis using time-domain survey data for the transients of interest
Requirements:
  • MSc in astronomy or related field
  • Strong background in astrophysics and data analysis
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
What We Offer:
  • Full-time work contract (37.5 hrs/week)
  • Remuneration includes full benefits and limited research and travel allowance

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Grade point average of the academic transcripts from the applicant's bachelor's or master's degree studies
  • Curricular merits in accordance with the specific criteria listed in Annex 1
