Overview

PepsiCo is seeking an Agro West Europe Capability & Sustainability Lead to contribute to our strategic initiatives.

Job Purpose

The establishment of a Global Agriculture function aims to leverage our scale for significant initiatives and develop essential capabilities to advance our strategic potato agenda. The key objectives include:

Cultivating and managing global strategic partnerships to expedite innovation across the business. Creating essential playbooks to facilitate collaboration and utilize global best practices. Promoting standardization and scalability of proven practices within PepsiCo while identifying necessary investments and partnerships in local markets for future growth.

This role is designed to collaborate with the Global team and the West Europe Agronomy team to integrate global partnerships and best practices through locally relevant adaptations. The goal is to enhance potato productivity and lower barriers for local farmers by improving crop resilience and grower livelihoods, all while advancing the Pep+ vision. By fostering the adoption of best-in-class practices, this position will contribute to shareholder value and economic growth through increased availability of local potatoes, while also preserving natural resources and supporting community development.

Responsibilities Lead collaboration with Global Agriculture and West Europe Sustainability teams

Develop a robust network and serve as the primary partner for Global Agriculture Capability, Global Solutions Lead, Global Implementation Lead, and Seed Lead to adapt and implement globally relevant programs in West Europe. Responsibilities include supporting the creation of detailed launch plans, trial protocols, and implementation strategies for global priority programs, including Ag Tech, Seed pipelines, New Variety ramp-up, model farms, and pep+ initiatives. Engage local farmers and spearhead deployment across West Europe, tracking and reporting progress against established goals.

Regen Ag / PEP+ Agriculture Strategy

Collaborate with the Global Team, Europe Agro Best Practice lead, and West Europe BU Agro leads to provide strategic leadership and integrate transformational PEP+ Agriculture goals for 2025 and 2030 across Direct Agro categories. This includes initiatives aimed at (a) reducing water usage by 15% in high-risk areas by 2025 and achieving a 40% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 compared to 2015 baseline, and (b) delivering Regen Ag targets for Direct Agro in Europe. Responsibilities encompass the development and deployment of next-generation irrigation tools, low-carbon fertilizer transitions, and farmer training programs.

Grower engagement and platforms

Create and maintain a platform to facilitate the successful launch and operation of the West Europe Agro Virtual Grower Network and Virtual Innovation Farms. This includes enabling growers to share and develop content, as well as hosting peer-to-peer learning sessions to showcase Regen Ag practices and promote best practices.

Baseline, analytics, and performance dashboards

Utilize existing crop monitoring databases to establish specific Regen Ag metrics and track year-on-year progress against key PEP goals.

PSP & AOP process

Provide strategic leadership, consolidate, and update PEP+ Agricultural goal delivery strategies across GPE Agro, capturing measurable goals, timelines, and financial impacts for West BUs. Coordinate input data for the PSP financial process annually, aligning with PEP+ strategies and financial inputs.

PEP+ Networking & Regen Ag COE

Facilitate engagement and strategy development on internal Regen Ag and external sustainability topics for EP Agro, collaborating with various cross-functional teams across West Europe. Serve as the primary contact for West Europe Agriculture, particularly regarding Regen Ag, EU Green Deal, environmental incentives, and carbon sequestration.

Coaching & knowledge building

Lead the development and implementation of Regen Ag and PEP+ Agriculture knowledge tools to empower the GPE Agro team in strategizing and executing against PEP+ and Regen Ag objectives.

Qualifications Extensive agricultural expertise and crop-level knowledge to influence farmers, ideally holding a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Science or a related sustainability qualification. Proficient in computer applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau) and capable of navigating various business applications. Preferably registered with BASIS and FACTS or local equivalents. Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Capable of working independently, identifying potential challenges, and managing projects efficiently. A proven influencer with a passion for agriculture and experience in driving transformational agendas.

Differentiating competencies required:

Strong collaboration and matrix management skills, both internally and with external partners. High level of people development and influence over external stakeholders. In-depth industry knowledge with the ability to leverage practices across various crops.
