Overview

PepsiCo is seeking a Sustainability Lead for Agro Initiatives in Western Europe.

Job Purpose

A dedicated Global Agriculture function has been established to leverage our scale for significant projects and enhance essential capabilities to advance our strategic potato agenda. The key objectives of this role include:

Cultivating and managing global strategic partnerships to expedite innovation across the business. Creating essential playbooks to facilitate collaboration and harness global best practices. Promoting standardization and scalability of proven practices across PepsiCo while identifying and securing necessary investments and strategic partnerships in local markets for future growth.

This role is designed to collaborate with the Global team and the West Europe Agronomy team to integrate global partnerships and best practices through locally relevant adaptations. The goal is to enhance potato productivity and lower barriers for new local farmers by improving crop resilience and grower livelihoods, all while advancing the Pep+ vision. By promoting the adoption of best-in-class practices, this position will contribute to generating additional shareholder value and economic growth through improved local potato availability, while also preserving natural resources and supporting community development.

Responsibilities Primary Liaison with Global Agriculture and West Europe Sustainability Teams

Build a robust network and serve as the main partner of the Global Agriculture Capability and Global Solutions Lead, Global Implementation Lead, and Seed Lead to adapt and implement globally relevant programs in West Europe. Responsibilities include supporting the development of detailed launch plans, trial protocols, and implementation strategies for global priority programs across Ag Tech, Seed pipelines, New Variety ramp-up, model farms, and pep+ initiatives. Engage local farmers and lead deployment efforts across West Europe, including tracking and reporting progress against established goals.

Regenerative Agriculture and PEP+ Strategy

Collaborate with the Global Team, Europe Agro Best Practice lead, and West Europe Agro leads to provide strategic direction and integrate transformational PEP+ Agriculture goals for 2025 and 2030 across Agro categories, with a focus on achieving PEP+ objectives such as (a) reducing water usage by 15% in high-risk areas by 2025 and (b) achieving a 40% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 compared to the 2015 baseline. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of next-generation irrigation tools, ultra-low carbon fertilizer transitions, and farmer training programs.

Grower Engagement and Platforms

Develop and maintain platforms and content to implement engagement strategies for the West Europe Agro Virtual Grower Network and Virtual Innovation Farms. This includes enabling growers to share and develop content and facilitating peer-to-peer learning sessions to showcase regenerative agriculture practices.

Analytics and Performance Tracking

Utilize existing crop monitoring databases to establish specific regenerative agriculture metrics and track annual progress against key PEP goals.

Strategic Planning and Financial Processes

Provide strategic insights and updates on PEP+ Agricultural goal delivery across GPE Agro, capturing measurable objectives, timelines, and financial impacts. Coordinate input data for financial processes annually, aligning with PEP+ strategies.

Networking and Center of Excellence for Regenerative Agriculture

Facilitate engagement and strategy development on internal regenerative agriculture and external sustainability topics for EP Agro, collaborating with various cross-functional teams across West Europe.

Coaching and Knowledge Development

Lead the development and implementation of regenerative agriculture knowledge tools to empower the GPE Agro team in strategizing and executing against PEP+ and regenerative agriculture goals.

Qualifications Extensive agricultural expertise required to influence farmers, with advanced education in Agricultural Science or a related sustainability field. Proficient in computer applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau) and capable of navigating various business applications. Ideally registered with professional bodies relevant to agriculture. Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities across all organizational levels. Ability to work independently, identify challenges, and manage projects efficiently. Proven influencing skills and a passion for agriculture and regenerative practices.

Key Competencies Required:

Strong collaboration and matrix management skills, both internally and with external partners. High-level people development and influence over external stakeholders. Comprehensive industry knowledge with transferable practices across various crops.
