Overview

PepsiCo is seeking an Agro West Europe Capability & Sustainability Lead to be based in one of our European locations.

Job Purpose

The formation of a Global Agriculture function aims to leverage our scale for significant initiatives and build essential capabilities to advance our strategic potato agenda. The key strategic objectives include:

Cultivating and managing global strategic alliances to expedite innovation across the business. Creating essential playbooks to facilitate collaboration and utilize global best practices. Promoting standardization and scalability of proven practices within PepsiCo while identifying and securing necessary investments and strategic partnerships in local markets for future growth.

This new role is designed to collaborate with the Global team and the West Europe Agronomy team/farmers to integrate these global partnerships and best practices through locally relevant adaptations. The goal is to enhance potato productivity and lower barriers for new local farmers by improving crop resilience and grower livelihoods, all while advancing the Pep+ vision. By promoting the adoption of best-in-class practices, this position will contribute to shareholder value and economic growth through increased availability of local potatoes, while also preserving natural resources and supporting community development.

Responsibilities Primary liaison with Global Agriculture and West Europe Sustainability teams

Establish a robust network and serve as the main partner for Global Agriculture Capability, Global Solutions Lead, Global Implementation Lead, and Seed Lead to adapt and implement globally relevant programs in West Europe. Responsibilities include supporting the development of detailed launch plans, trial protocols, and implementation strategies for global priority programs, including Ag Tech, Seed pipelines, New Variety ramp-up, model farms, and pep+ initiatives. Engage local farmers and lead deployment efforts across West Europe, tracking and reporting progress against agreed-upon objectives.

Regenerative Agriculture / PEP+ Agriculture Strategy

Collaborate with the Global Team, Europe Agro Best Practice lead, and West Europe BU Agro leads to provide thought leadership and integrate transformational PEP+ Agriculture strategies for 2025 & 2030 across EP Direct Agro categories, addressing a total spend of US$ to achieve PEP+ Agriculture goals, including (a) a 15% reduction in water use in high-risk areas by 2025 and a 40% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 compared to 2015 baseline, and (b) meeting Regen Ag targets for Direct Agro in Europe. This includes transformational programs such as the development and deployment of next-generation irrigation tools, ultra-low carbon fertilizer transitions, and farmer training initiatives.

Grower Engagement and Platforms

Develop and maintain a platform, create content, and implement engagement strategies to successfully launch and operate the West Europe Agro Virtual Grower Network and Virtual Innovation Farms. This will enable growers to share content, support each other in content development, and host peer-to-peer learning sessions to showcase regenerative agriculture practices and promote best practices.

Baseline, Analytics, and Performance Dashboards

Utilize existing crop monitoring databases to establish specific regenerative agriculture metrics, baselines, and the capability to track annual progress against key PEP goals.

PSP & AOP Process

Provide strategic leadership, consolidate, and update PEP+ Agricultural goal delivery strategies across GPE Agro, capturing measurable objectives, timelines, and financial impacts for West BUs. Coordinate data input for the PSP financial process annually, aligning with PEP+ strategies and financial considerations. Support GPE Agro & Best Practices lead in presenting PEP+ Agro strategies to Europe and Global Sustainability teams.

PEP+ Networking & Regen Ag Center of Excellence

Facilitate engagement and development of aligned strategies on internal regenerative agriculture and external sustainability topics for EP Agro, collaborating with various cross-functional and commercialization teams across West Europe. Serve as the primary contact for West Europe Agriculture, particularly in areas such as regenerative agriculture, EU Green Deal, environmental incentives, and carbon sequestration.

Coaching & Knowledge Development

Lead the development and rollout of regenerative agriculture and PEP+ Agriculture knowledge tools to engage and empower the GPE Agro team, enabling them to effectively strategize and execute against PEP+ and regenerative agriculture goals.

Qualifications Extensive agricultural and crop-level expertise is essential for influencing farmers. Advanced education in Agricultural Science or a related sustainability field is preferred. Proficient in computer applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau) and capable of navigating various business applications. Ideally, hold professional registrations relevant to the field. Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with suppliers. Capable of working independently, taking initiative, and managing projects efficiently while identifying potential challenges. Proven ability to influence and a passion for agriculture and regenerative practices.

Key Competencies Required:

Strong collaboration and matrix management skills, both internally and with external partners. High-level people development skills and influence over external stakeholders. In-depth industry knowledge with the ability to leverage practices across various crops.
