About the Role

Uber is seeking a seasoned leader to oversee safety across DACH, Iberia & South, Central & Eastern Europe (SCEE) regions. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of operational expertise, innovative thinking, and emotional intelligence to ensure Uber remains the safest and most trusted platform for its users, governments, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Execute Safety Strategy: Collaborate with senior operations and cross-functional leadership to shape and execute the safety strategy for the region. Utilize data-driven insights to inform transformational projects and ensure Uber's Safety Management System (SMS) is effectively operationalized.
  2. Leadership and Influence: Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to achieve shared safety and operational objectives. Foster a strong safety culture among key regional stakeholders through strong relationships and visibility.
  3. Build Policies and Processes: Develop safety solutions, policies, and processes to enhance safety performance and achieve local business objectives. Drive continuous improvement by identifying trends and mitigating key safety issues.
  4. External Relationships: Establish strong relationships with external stakeholders and non-governmental organizations to raise safety standards for the industry.
  5. Innovation in Safety: Launch new in-app safety products and partnerships to prevent incidents and address public safety challenges. Influence future product development and foster a safety-centric culture.
  6. Talent Development: Nurture and develop team talent, ensuring a high-performing Safety Team. Participate in special projects and assignments as necessary.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across local, regional, and global teams to embed safety into all local planning and MBRs.
Requirements
  1. Proven Experience: Experience in consulting, business management in operations, strategy, safety, compliance, technology, risk management, or a similar area.
  2. Leadership Capability: Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams. Adept at motivating people, drawing out the best in them, and helping develop the next generation of leaders at Uber.
  3. Problem-Solving and Communication: Ability to tackle and simplify complex problems and effectively communicate the path forward to various stakeholders.
  4. Stakeholder Management: Experience in leading, coaching, and influencing stakeholders; being a trusted advisor to senior leadership, ideally in a fast-growth environment.
