About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our Atmospheric Composition group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and applying numerical models to better understand and predict atmospheric pollutants and their effects on air quality, weather, and climate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain numerical models for aerosol forecasting and atmospheric composition
  • Collaborate with the Atmospheric Composition group to advance our understanding of aerosol impacts on air quality and climate
  • Contribute to the development of aerosol forecast products for aviation, solar energy, and air-quality applications
  • Work with the BSC team to integrate aerosol modeling with other Earth system models
  • Participate in the development of training and know-how on dust modeling, assimilation, and forecast products for early-stage researchers and students
About the Team

The Atmospheric Composition group at BSC is a leading research team in the field of aerosol modeling and forecasting. We are committed to advancing our understanding of aerosol impacts on air quality and climate, and to developing innovative solutions for aerosol forecasting and modeling.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • PhD in Atmospheric Science, Physics, or a related field
  • Strong background in aerosol modeling and forecasting
  • Experience with numerical models and programming languages (e.g. Python, Fortran)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the development of aerosol forecast products
