Process Safety Engineer Intern

Cenovus is seeking students to participate in a refining environment internship program. This program offers a unique chance to gain valuable experience, work alongside industry-leading professionals, and develop essential skills for a successful career.

- Eligibility for a lump sum relocation payment to assist with relocation expenses for students moving for their work term.
- Perform daily safety procedure audits and inspections as needed.
- Assist in the delivery of Contractor Safety Training.
- Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and auditing.
- Assist with the development of Hazardous Materials Information System (HMIS) signs and labeling.
- Perform the annual respiratory protection program audit for the Safety Department.
- Engage with field personnel to understand operational challenges, provide support, and reinforce a strong safety culture.
- Foster positive and constructive interactions with field personnel to encourage reporting of safety concerns and ensure effective communication.
- Available to begin work on January 6, 2025.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship for this role will not be provided.
- A valid US Driver's License is required.
- Previous experience is considered an asset.
- Strong attitude for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Enrolled in a Chemical Engineering or Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
This role may include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, and working at site.
Safety SensitiveThis is a safety-sensitive role, and you will be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. You will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
