Process Safety Engineer Intern

Cenovus is seeking a talented student to join our Process Safety Management team as a Process Safety Engineer Intern. This exciting opportunity will provide you with hands-on experience in a refining environment, working alongside industry-leading professionals.
You will be part of a driven and collaborative team, completing important projects while receiving mentorship, knowledge, and experience to develop the skills you need to build a successful career.

- Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum relocation payment to assist with relocation expenses
- Perform daily safety procedure audits and inspections as needed
- Assist in the delivery of the Contractor Safety Training
- Support Process Safety Management, including PSI, PHA, MOC, auditing, drawing updates, MOC documentation, and T/A help
- Assist with the development of HMIS signs and labeling
- Perform the annual respiratory protection program audit for the Safety Department
- Engage with field personnel to understand operational challenges, provide support, and reinforce a strong safety culture
- Foster positive and constructive interactions with field personnel to encourage reporting of safety concerns and ensure effective communication
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Available to begin work on January 6, 2025
- Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship for this role will not be provided
- A valid US Driver's License is required
- Previous experience is considered an asset
- A strong attitude for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be enrolled in a Chemical Engineering or Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
- Candidates currently enrolled in either a master's or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
- New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities
- May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
- This is a safety-sensitive role, and as such, you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours
- Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements
- Safety-sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle. A valid US Driver's License with no restrictions is a requirement for this role
