Job Title: Science Education Specialist

Join the European Space Agency - ESA as a Science Education Specialist and contribute to the development of educational activities that inspire and engage the public in space science.

About the Role:

The Science Communication and Education Section (SCI-EC) is responsible for defining and implementing the Communication and Education Strategy for the Science Directorate. As a Science Education Specialist, you will be part of a team that leverages the scientific output of ESA's Space Science missions to inform, engage, and inspire stakeholders, including advisory bodies, media, scientists, the general public, and future generations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate CESAR efforts with main partners (INTA and ISDEFE) and the ESA Education Office on activities such as school and university visits, educational material creation, and teacher training.
  • Develop and manage regular CESAR training opportunities for school teachers and oversee participation in educational events, including video-conferences and remote operations of CESAR educational telescopes.
  • Ensure optimal access to educational resources through the continuous improvement of the CESAR educational website.
  • Support the Head of the Science Communication & Education Section in managing and monitoring existing contracts and setting up new contracts to strengthen the impact and reach of available resources.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant domain.
  • Advanced level in Spanish (CEFR level C1 or C2).
  • Experience in space science and science communication, project management, contract management, and designing, developing, and delivering educational activities.
  • Result orientation, operational efficiency, fostering cooperation, relationship management, continuous improvement, and forward thinking.
