Destinus is a pioneering aerospace technology company that's redefining the concept of distance. We're building a near-space vehicle and the associated infrastructure to make logistics, e-commerce, and supply chain companies more efficient. Our hydrogen-powered vehicles are ten times faster than conventional aircraft, providing a just-in-time backbone for businesses that can't wait. We're seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to contribute to the development of our embedded software that powers complex aircraft guidance systems and power management.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the GNC software team, platform software team, and hardware design team to define and manage software requirements.
- Design and implement software, along with test cases, to provide a solid foundation for higher-level control functions, GNC software functions, state-machine for autonomous flight, and security functions.
- Support the hardware design team with board bring-up and debugging of subsystems not working on newly designed boards.
- Produce documentation and fulfill requirements from certification authorities to enable components/boards and software to be used for experimental flights.
- Develop test plans, participate in test facility specification and testing, perform hardware testing, and analyze test results.
- Support design reviews and guide the implementation of new software stacks.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development.
- 3+ years in low-level hardware implementations.
- Pragmatic entrepreneurial mindset with a can-do attitude.
- Focus on clean, easy-to-read, well-documented, safety-critical code.
- Knowledge of embedded Linux and associated build environments and tools.
- Troubleshooting embedded systems, scoping, soldering, crimping, and assembling wire harnesses for testing.
- Programming languages: C, Python, and some shell scripting.
- Experience with CAN, Serial, TCP/IP communications.
- Programming I2C, SPI, one wire, and similar with ease.
- Familiarity with ARM platforms like STM32 and Zynq 7000 or Ultrascale.
- Experience with electrical or avionics integration and testing.
- Experience in FPGA and CPLD would be a plus.
- Previous experience in the UAV domain would be a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills crucial for algorithm development and data analysis.
- Good communication skills enabling effective collaboration.
- Languages: English is mandatory; French and/or Spanish are beneficial.
