Renewable Energy Technical Specialist

EDP Energias de Portugal S.A. is a global leader in the renewable energy sector, and we are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Technical Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and cooperation with our M&A teams for the analysis of business opportunities and initiatives worldwide, related to wind farm, PV plant, and BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Design and Technical Assessment: Define and execute technical due diligence assessments for projects at various stages of development and operation, collaborating with our transversal engineering team to support M&A and Origination teams globally.
- Project Pre-Design: Identify technical upsides and levers that optimize the project, mitigating identified technical risks, reducing CAPEX, and increasing revenues.
- CAPEX Estimation: Prepare accurate and optimum CAPEX estimations of potential projects or investment opportunities.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate technical risks of projects, identifying factors that could affect development, design, construction, and commissioning, and assessing their probability and potential consequences.
- Project Planning Assessment: Assess project master plans from vendors, considering inputs related to permitting from the Business Development area, and developing own schedules for engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
- Contracts Assessment: Support Legal, M&A, and Business Development teams in preparing Supplemental Purchase Agreements and Development Service Agreements, ensuring technical scopes and conditions are well covered.
- Transversal Support Coordination: Ensure coordination of service provision from Local E&C teams and Technology areas, collaborating closely with various departments, including M&A, Development, Origination, Procurement, Finance, Energy Assessment, and O&M.
- Reporting: Produce preliminary principal finding reports and final Technical Due Diligence reports, including technical assessments and project status updates.
- Coordination of Project Transfer: Lead transfer of acquired projects to Local E&C Teams, ensuring delivery of full packages of VDR technical information and developed information.
- Standardization: Follow application of common standards in projects, supervising adaptation to applicable local regulations to avoid non-justified deviations and maximize investment efficiency.
- Company Policy and Legal Compliance: Understand and apply policies to prevent occupational hazards, environment, and quality, ensuring implementation and compliance on tasks under responsibility.
- EDPR Institutional Representation: Represent EDPR to agencies and institutions, public and private, in matters relating to its jurisdiction to enforce interests of EDPR.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited educational institution. A postgraduate degree will be valued. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of combined technical/engineering and construction management experience in the renewables energy industry, with specific knowledge of Solar PV and Wind design practices and BOP-BOS engineering. Proficient knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite, with high proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerBI required. Spanish and English language skills are essential, with C1 level in English. Ability to work in a multi-national team, with persons in different countries and labor calendars, is a must. Strong technical, analytical, quantitative, strategic, and management skills are required, as well as ability to quickly understand basics of various subjects relating to renewable energy. Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work productively with limited supervision are also essential. Ability and willingness to travel are required.
