Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Executive Pastry Chef to join our pre-opening team at SLS Barcelona. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Pastry & Bakery department operation.

Responsibilities
  1. Direct and coordinate all aspects of the Pastry & Bakery department operation, ensuring seamless collaboration with the Food and Beverage team and other stakeholders.
  2. Utilize your pastry expertise to maintain the highest standards of quality, creativity, and innovation in our pastry kitchen.
  3. Create delicious, bespoke flavors and creations for our guests, managing a section in our busy pastry kitchen.
  4. Ensure smooth operations, efficient ordering and delivery systems, and high food hygiene standards.
  5. Support the Director of Culinary and Executive Chef in driving innovative ideas and techniques, maintaining a dynamic and creative pastry kitchen environment.
  6. Nurture and develop the talent of the pastry kitchen and wider team, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  7. Produce all required food items for assigned kitchens, including Banquets and Restaurants.
  8. Control ordering and requisitions to achieve budgeted costs.
  9. Collaborate with Sales & Marketing and Retail Merchandising departments to conceptualize and implement dynamic marketing programs.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as an Executive Pastry Chef or Pastry Sous Chef in a fast-paced, quality-driven culinary team.
  • Passion for pastry, with a strong desire to continue learning and growing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Extensive pastry technical knowledge and current culinary trends, with a high level of creativity and mastery of chocolate and sugar techniques.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of chefs.
