Position Summary

We are seeking a Finance Manager to undertake an expatriate role in one of our numerous Werfen affiliates or Technology Centers, with an initial commitment of at least three years.

The selected candidate will begin with a comprehensive onboarding program at our Barcelona Headquarters for 1-2 years, initially serving as a Finance Analyst. This will provide a robust introduction to Werfen and the finance function before transitioning to a Finance Manager role at one of our global subsidiaries.

This position presents an exceptional opportunity to assume a management role in a short timeframe, with significant responsibilities within a leading organization in the diagnostics industry, offering ample growth and development prospects in the mid to long term.

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal strategic role within the Werfen affiliate, overseeing financial governance and leadership across the country’s operations. This includes optimizing results through detailed analysis, implementing procedures, and managing risks. The Finance Manager will provide comprehensive financial and business support to the General Manager and various Business Areas.

Key Responsibilities - Finance Manager

Financial Oversight:

Supervise the preparation of Financial Statements and corporate reporting for Headquarters on a monthly basis. Ensure adherence to international standards and local regulations. Coordinate daily operations of the financial department and manage cash flow. Oversee financial audits and recommend procedural improvements. Lead the implementation of corporate procedures within the affiliate. Establish and maintain robust internal controls and safeguards. Identify potential risks (taxation, accounting, etc.). Ensure compliance with all tax regulations while optimizing tax strategies. Supervise payroll processing, personnel hiring and termination, and manage training records.

Financial Business Partnering:

Deliver financial and business analysis to support all activities and projects, ensuring effective monitoring and decision-making. Conduct ongoing profitability analysis of the business, including customer PL analysis, pricing, and margin assessments. Provide insights and support to the General Manager and Department Directors for informed commercial decisions. Lead the preparation of financial forecasts and outlooks for strategic decision-making. Manage and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions. Monitor and analyze monthly operational results against budget and previous years. Propose and spearhead initiatives to reduce expenses and enhance profitability. Collaborate with commercial departments on customer conditions (profitability analysis, payment terms, credit limits, pricing, discounts, etc.).

Key Relationships – Finance Manager

Engage with senior management. Collaborate with all department managers within the affiliate and corporate back-office departments (IT, Supply Chain, Corporate Finance, Controlling, etc.) to ensure comprehensive information and analysis.

Key Responsibilities – Financial Analyst

Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Analyze periodic reports comparing actual data to budgeted figures. Organize and present relevant financial information to facilitate effective decision-making. Continuously enhance the quality and reliability of financial information provided. Conduct detailed analyses, including expenditure and cash flow assessments. Evaluate the financial implications of strategic and operational initiatives. Lead ad hoc financial projects as required.

Key Relationships – Financial Analyst

Engage with senior management. Collaborate with finance teams globally, including corporate finance managers and subsidiaries.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's and master's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline. Over three years of experience in M&A within a Big4 firm or corporate environment. Experience in finance within multinational companies, including consolidation work, is advantageous. Extensive knowledge of advanced accounting and financial reporting principles and practices. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with digital finance applications is a plus. Knowledge of the SAP accounting system is also beneficial. Proficient in written and spoken English; additional language skills are a plus.
