Job Title: Legal Counsel

At TikTok, we are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing legal support and strategic advice on all commercial activities across the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including media buying agreements, agency partnerships, talent agreements, and sponsorship agreements.
  • Advise on initiatives to support creators and activations of TikTok's operations team plans.
  • Advise on compliance issues relating to advertising, monetization, consumer protection, media, and regulations relevant to the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
  • Proactively identify potential risks arising from the Spanish and Portuguese legal ecosystem and liaise with different XFN legal colleagues and senior business leads to address the said risks.
  • Support the wider legal team with various matters affecting Spain and Portugal, including litigation and regulatory matters, intellectual property, and privacy.
  • Support and advise the government relations and public policy teams in advocacy work.
  • Support knowledge management, template development, process improvement, and training.
Requirements:
  • Be independent and capable of making decisions autonomously, demonstrating a high degree of self-reliance and judgment.
  • Have experience advising platforms, digital content, or advertising businesses, either based in private practice or in-house.
  • Have an understanding of digital advertising, digital rights acquisition, and familiarity with the privacy issues in this environment with a strong grounding in GDPR.
  • Have strong commercial acumen and be comfortable taking commercial decisions, demonstrating a risk appetite to help the business achieve its goals while protecting TikTok interests and mitigating legal risk.
  • Have solid experience in drafting and negotiating agreements.
  • Have a highly collaborative style and strong interpersonal skills, with an exceptional ability to interact with and connect different teams within the legal and business organization when necessary.
  • Business proficiency in Spanish and English, as the role will support these regions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience of working in an international business is a plus.
  • Be passionate about the law mixed with a pragmatic work style.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in intellectual property rights and data protection, ensuring compliance and safeguarding company interests.
  • Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential risks for TikTok arising from respective legislation.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and Italian are plus but not mandatory, as the role will support these regions.
