Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Customer Application Engineer to join our team at GE Executive Careers. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for positioning our products and configuration with customers prior to firm bid, working in collaboration with the Account/Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own pre-ITO technical deliverables for all typical opportunities directly from assigned account managers. For complex opportunities, may own with support from broader applications team or may support another more experienced AE team member leading.
  2. Gather from Customers and other sources information about each opportunity and the Customer's development plan, strategy, and evaluation method.
  3. Inform Customers about GE Vernova technology and solutions through in-person and online presentations.
  4. Use thermodynamic modeling software to model Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CC), and Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plants.
  5. When appropriate, work cross-functionally to conduct configuration optimization.
  6. Conduct economic life-cycle evaluation analysis of GE Vernova and competitor solutions for projects prior to formal Request For Proposal (RFP).
  7. Work closely with New Unit Sales and within the broader Applications Engineering and Product Line Management teams to ensure optimum GE Vernova competitiveness.
  8. Proactively assess product fit and define an influencing strategy to best position GE Vernova prior to firm bid. Products include Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine, Aeroderivative Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator.
  9. Work closely with New Unit Sales to establish a pre-ITO level of technical information flow to develop gas power projects.
  10. Respond to Customer requests for technical information prior to RFP, including providing transmission interconnect data and emissions data for permitting.
  11. Define and communicate to the ITO proposal team the project background, optimum configuration, necessary approvals obtained, and bid strategy.
  12. Gather competitive data and support post win and post mortem analyses.
  13. Analyze and report back to the business regional Customer needs and trends.
  14. Provide Customer feedback to internal functions (i.e. Solution Architect, Value Engineering) regarding the preferred configuration designs and strategy.

Requirements

  1. Advanced Engineering degree is a plus.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of GE Gas Power products and technology (Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine and/or Aeroderivatives, Steam Turbine, CC, CHP), processes and organizational structure.
  3. Experience in Thermal performance simulation tools (GTP, Ebsilon etc)
  4. Prior experience in engineering, construction or operation of large power plants.
  5. Proactively seeks broad input to bound decisions and stays informed with the latest industry trends.
  6. Engage in development opportunities to improve both their own capabilities as well as that of the organization.
  7. Keeps customer and business impacts in forefront of problem solving and decision making processes.
  8. Enthusiastically practices lean, helps build and ensures adherence to standard work utilize continuous improvement principles and tools in daily work to drive better outcome.
  9. Strong external focus, with ability to assess impact of price and performance decisions on Customers, market, & investors.
  10. Proven analytical skill set and strategic mindset.
  11. Knowledge of power generation industry trends and competition.
  12. Strong grasp of power plant thermodynamics and modeling.
  13. Project economic modeling knowledge and experience.
  14. Self-driven with the ability to work in a regional and global team.
  15. Good English written and verbal communication skills, one-on-one and with large audiences.
