Job Summary:

The Process Technology Specialist - Probiotics Development will be responsible for leading the development and optimization of probiotics fermentation processes in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role requires a technical expert who is creative, hands-on, and team-oriented to support the optimization of our new facility, future expansions, and increasing our operating profit by improving the effectiveness in our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project engineers, technology engineers, operations, and R&D, to optimize the performance of the new probiotics production facility to meet strategic business plans and customer requirements.
  • Lead the tech transfer of new strains from R&D and external partners, ensuring seamless integration into production.
  • Assist in evaluating potential joint venture and merger opportunities in the probiotics space, providing technical expertise to inform business decisions.
  • Serve as a technical partner for the site, providing guidance and support to production and maintenance employees, plant operations, and leadership teams.
  • Explore and propose new process technologies and equipment suppliers to support operational improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety and continuous process safety improvement.
  • Act as a resource for both operations and R&D teams, providing coaching, mentoring, and training sessions to ensure technical expertise is shared across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Dedication to working safely and promoting a safety culture.
  • Expert understanding of probiotics fermentation processes and their applications.
  • Experience with optimization and analytical processes and tools, with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narratives.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and English, with a strong preference for bilingual candidates.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates with a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Processing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in probiotics development and process optimization, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
