Overview:
The Probiotic Process Engineering Specialist focuses on the fermentation and extraction of bulk probiotics, a rapidly expanding segment for ADM. We seek a skilled professional who is innovative, practical, and collaborative to enhance the efficiency of our state-of-the-art facility, facilitate future growth, and boost our profitability through operational improvements. This role will involve guiding the development of probiotic products and processes, transferring new strains to production, and refining existing operations. The position will require significant interaction with various departments, including Commercial, Operations, and R&D.Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with project engineers, technology engineers, operations personnel, and R&D to enhance the functionality of the new probiotics production facility in alignment with strategic objectives and customer needs.
- Lead the transfer of new strains from R&D and external collaborators.
- Assist in assessing potential joint ventures and mergers & acquisitions in the probiotics sector.
- Act as a technical resource for the site, collaborating with production and maintenance staff, plant operations, leadership, other manufacturing sites, corporate engineering, S&T teams, and external partners.
- Investigate, recommend, and advocate for new process technologies and equipment suppliers to drive operational enhancements.
- Commit to leading, developing, and supporting safety initiatives while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for both operations and R&D teams through coaching, mentoring, and training sessions.
- Strong commitment to safety and awareness of the safety of others.
- Expertise in probiotics fermentation processes.
- Experience with optimization and analytical processes and tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with plant engineers, operators, R&D, and senior management.
- Familiarity with standard process documentation, including P&IDs and control narratives.
- Willingness to regularly engage in plant environments.
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred. Candidates with degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Food Processing, Production Manufacturing, Technology, or related fields will also be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in probiotics development and process optimization, ideally within a manufacturing context.
