Position Overview:

The Probiotic Process Engineering Specialist focuses on the fermentation and extraction of bulk probiotics, a rapidly evolving sector for ADM. We seek a technical authority who is innovative, practical, and collaborative to enhance the efficiency of our new facility, future growth, and boost our operational profitability through improved processes. The individual will spearhead the advancement of probiotic products and processes, facilitating the transfer of new strains to production sites and refining existing operations. This role will involve significant interaction with various departments, including Commercial, Operations, and R&D.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside project engineers, technology engineers, the operations team, and R&D to enhance the functionality of the new probiotics production facility in alignment with strategic business objectives and customer needs.
  • Oversee the technical transfer of new strains from R&D and external collaborators.
  • Assist in assessing potential joint ventures and mergers & acquisitions within the probiotics sector.
  • Act as a technical liaison for the site, collaborating with production and maintenance staff, plant operations, leadership teams, other manufacturing locations, corporate engineering, S&T organizations, and external partners.
  • Investigate, propose, and advocate for new process technologies and equipment suppliers to facilitate operational enhancements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to leading, developing, and promoting safety while fostering a culture of continuous process safety improvement.
  • Serve as a resource for both operations and R&D teams through coaching, mentoring, and conducting training sessions.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and awareness of the safety of others.
  • Expertise in probiotics fermentation processes.
  • Experience with optimization and analytical processes and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with plant engineers, operators, R&D, and senior management.
  • Familiarity with standard process documentation and drawings, such as P&IDs and control narratives.
  • Willingness to regularly engage in plant areas.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
Educational Background:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred. Candidates with degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Food Processing, Production Manufacturing, Technology, or related fields will also be considered.
Professional Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in probiotics development and process optimization, preferably in a manufacturing context.
