Overview:

The Probiotic Process Engineering Specialist focuses on the fermentation and extraction of bulk probiotics, a rapidly expanding sector for ADM. We seek a technical authority who is innovative, practical, and collaborative to enhance the efficiency of our new facility, future growth initiatives, and boost our operational profitability through improved processes. The selected candidate will lead the development of probiotic products and processes, facilitate the transfer of new strains to production, and optimize existing operations. This role will involve significant interaction with various departments, including Commercial, Operations, and R&D.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with project engineers, technology engineers, operations personnel, and R&D to enhance the performance of the new probiotics production facility in alignment with strategic business objectives and customer needs.
  • Oversee the technology transfer of new strains from R&D and external collaborators.
  • Contribute to the assessment of potential joint ventures and mergers & acquisitions in the probiotics sector.
  • Act as a technical liaison for the site, collaborating with production and maintenance staff, plant operations, leadership teams, other manufacturing sites, corporate engineering, and external partners.
  • Investigate, propose, and advocate for new process technologies and equipment suppliers to support operational enhancements.
  • Commit to leading, developing, and promoting safety practices and fostering a culture of safety. Advocate for continuous improvements in process safety.
  • Serve as a resource for both operations and R&D teams through coaching, mentoring, and conducting training sessions.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Strong commitment to safety and awareness of the safety of others.
  • Expertise in probiotics fermentation processes.
  • Experience with optimization and analytical methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with plant engineers, operators, R&D, and senior management.
  • Familiarity with standard process documentation, including P&IDs and control narratives.
  • Willingness to regularly engage in plant operations.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
Educational Background:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred. Candidates with degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Food Processing, Production Manufacturing, Technology, or related fields will also be considered.
Professional Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in probiotics development and process optimization, ideally within a manufacturing context.
Desirable Skills:
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.
