Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead our business development efforts, focusing on delivering technical assistance for EU-funded projects. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Senior BD Director, leading the identification of key inputs necessary for the successful preparation of technical proposals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead early engagement activities for a challenging pipeline of new business opportunities across all developing countries, with a focus on English and French-speaking countries.
- Support the Senior BD Director in diversifying donors and clients.
- Contribute essential inputs to the business development process from local and international partners, advisors, input providers, technical drafters, and key experts.
- Ensure all key inputs comply with DAI's vetting rules.
- Support the identification of key inputs and agree commercial terms with them.
- Undertake necessary field missions.
- Ensure the transfer of key inputs to the unit in charge of technical proposal preparation.
- Coordinate with the DAI EU implementation unit and other DAI units.
- Prepare Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and build and enhance the value of key inputs identified prior to EOI submission.
- Support the handover of information before shortlisting.
- Contribute to the recruitment of Key Experts.
- Provide necessary information for budget preparation.
- Assist in reviewing relevant sections of the technical proposal.
- Relevant degree in economics, public sector administration, sustainable development, international cooperation, business administration, or other topics related to economic growth and good governance.
- More than 5 years of experience in Business Development Management for the acquisition of donor-funded projects, with recent experience of at least 3 years working with the EU.
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple stakeholder expectations, work independently, and as part of a team within tight deadlines across various time zones.
- Proven track record in winning new business.
- Teamwork skills, with the ability to support and work collaboratively within the business development team, share knowledge, and ideally manage a team of at least five people.
- In-depth knowledge of EU procedures and/or other donors and project cycle management and Log frame management.
- Excellent capacity to develop networks.
- Strong organizational skills and capacity to learn and adapt quickly to new work processes.
- Strong analytical skills and reasoning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to keep stakeholders informed.
- Sensitivity in dealing with confidential information.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, with a sense of urgency, and the ability to support the opportunity to grow.
- Proactive, assertive, action-oriented, and intellectually agile.
- Fluent in French and/or Spanish.
- Available to travel 25% of the time.
- Proficient in MS Office.
