Job Title: Traction Systems Engineer

Siemens Mobility is a leading company in the transport solutions sector, with over 160 years of experience in innovating its portfolio in rolling stock, rail automation, and electrification. As a Traction Systems Engineer, you will be part of our engineering team responsible for developing the electrical supply for the propulsion of trains, including metros, hybrid locomotives, high-speed, and commuter trains. Your primary focus will be on designing, specifying, simulating, and technically clarifying the traction system, including components such as transformers, converters, traction motors, auxiliaries, and traction batteries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and specification of the traction system, including simulation and technical clarification
  • Implementation of customer requirements and design of components
  • Focus on components and system integration required for alternative propulsion, such as traction batteries and converters
  • Technical interfaces, including electric drive technology, operation management, and control, as well as mechanical integration
  • Participation in all relevant phases of the project, from concept to bid preparation, technical implementation, testing, delivery, and warranty
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics with a focus on drive technology and/or power electronics
  • Professional experience in the field of electrical drives, with proficiency in basic simulation tools
  • Ability to understand and define complex systems, using a structured way of working, problem-solving, and documentation
  • Fluency in English (at least C1-level or equivalent), with additional language skills an advantage
  • Ability to work with colleagues from different departments and locations, with readiness for traveling
