About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Engineer to join our team at Siemens Mobility, S.L.U. in the field of lithium battery systems for trains. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for coordinating customer and development projects in the engineering field of lithium battery technology for rail vehicles from the bidding phase to the handover of the system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate customer and development projects in the engineering field of lithium battery technology for rail vehicles from the bidding phase to the handover of the system
  • Develop new processes and forward-looking technical solutions for lithium battery systems in an innovative interdisciplinary team
  • Work closely with experts in system design, fuel cells, traction inverters, and onboard electrical systems in the conception phase
  • Create well-founded technical specifications and test plans for lithium batteries and coordinate them in detail with suppliers
  • Conduct and support safety analyses and participate in quality management
  • Perform simulations in the field of battery system design, as well as calculations for service life
  • Present development results to users, decision-makers, suppliers, customers, and at professional events
  • Conduct market research, technology and cell benchmarks, as well as economic considerations, especially for lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion batteries
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a degree (standard period of study > 4 years) in engineering or natural sciences, preferably with knowledge of Li-Ion energy storage systems
  • Initial professional experience and project experience (or development projects) in the field of hybrid drive technology or electric traction systems
  • Excellent knowledge of simulation tools/techniques and preferably already have proficiency in Matlab-Simulink/Python or are eager to learn them in the short term
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence or programming skills are advantageous
  • Knowledge of the electrical, thermal, and mechanical behavior of cells and battery systems is beneficial
  • Analytical thinking and a structured approach to work are your strengths
  • You enjoy communicating in English within a team
