Job Overview

The Engineering Manager at Coforge holds a pivotal leadership position within the software engineering sector, tasked with shaping and implementing the technical vision, strategic roadmaps, and associated decisions. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the technical vision, strategic roadmaps, and decisions for the engineering teams.
  • Offer technical mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting their professional development.
  • Oversee the technical career trajectories, skill sets, and organizational structure of the engineering teams.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions regarding engineering performance and capabilities.
  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous enhancement within the engineering team.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment on technical specifications and deliverables.
  • Identify and address risks and challenges that could affect product delivery or team efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in software engineering, applying them to foster innovation and enhance team performance.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team, product owners, and stakeholders to establish key performance indicators related to code quality and delivery.
  • Set baseline metrics to evaluate the current state of code quality and delivery performance, establishing achievable improvement targets.
  • Implement metrics to assess the performance of individual team members and product teams, providing regular feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and transparency by making code quality and delivery metrics accessible to all team members.
  • Employ data analytics to uncover patterns and trends in code quality and delivery metrics over time.
  • Evaluate the skills and capacity of the existing engineering teams to meet technical requirements, identifying any skill gaps or resource limitations.
  • Propose effective team structures that align with the product roadmap based on technical requirements and team capabilities.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive technical experience in relevant engineering disciplines (e.g., software development, systems engineering).
  • In-depth knowledge of technologies and tools utilized in software development or engineering products.
  • Proficiency in understanding and analyzing code, engaging in detailed technical discussions.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and their practical application.
  • Knowledge of code quality and security practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in software engineering, with a solid grasp of development methodologies.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or management capacity, ideally within a software engineering or digital product development context.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
