Overview

The IT Operations Systems Expert plays a crucial role in the implementation and upkeep of Werfen's IT solutions tailored for Clinical Laboratories. This includes the Laboratory Information System and the Advanced Data Analysis System utilizing Business Intelligence technology.

Position Summary

In this role, you will be tasked with configuring the Laboratory Information System and primarily focusing on the application architecture's implementation and maintenance, along with various interoperability systems outside the laboratory, ensuring a high standard of service for clients.

Reporting to the IT Operations Area Manager, the IT Operations Systems Expert may also take on the responsibilities of a Project Manager during implementation projects or serve as a key reference for installations or client interactions.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include:

  • Implementing IT solutions while adhering to best practices in the assigned role, including Project Management when applicable.
  • Maintaining effective communication with both customers and team members.
  • Providing both remote and on-site technical, operational, and application support to clients, aiding in the integration of IT solutions within their laboratories.
  • Analyzing laboratory processes and advocating for technological improvements, particularly in application architecture and interoperability systems.
  • Collaborating closely with IT Support teams and Product Specialists.
  • Reporting on activities conducted within the timeframe specified in the Style Guide.
  • Staying current with various technology tools and products, especially in application architecture and interoperability systems.

As a Project Manager/Project Leader, additional responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordinating project tasks and actions, ensuring all activities required for system implementation and maintenance are performed, while regularly checking task statuses.
  • Identifying and communicating potential risks to clients that may affect the achievement of project objectives.
  • Engaging with clients at all project management levels to independently resolve conflicts or issues.
  • Ensuring that all relevant technical documentation for the project is up-to-date and accessible to the entire team.

Compliance and Ethics

Ensuring adherence to company regulations and Quality policies, as well as compliance with the Corporate Code of Ethics, is paramount.

Internal Relationships

Internal relationships will be defined according to departmental needs and will include:

  • Strong collaboration with all roles within the BU Healthcare IT Solutions and the IT Support team.
  • Effective communication with the development team for system integration and equipment connectivity.
  • Fluid interactions with Area Managers, Key Account Managers, and Sales Application Specialists, particularly those within Werfen Spain and Portugal.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Mid-level vocational training in Microcomputer and Network Systems or Operating IT Systems; high-level vocational training in Networked IT Systems Administration is advantageous.

Experience:

  • Experience in IT projects related to Clinical Laboratories and/or hospital environments.
  • Experience in IT Project Management.

Additional Skills:

  • Project Management Professional Certification.
  • VMWare Administration Certification or experience with Virtual Machines.
  • Operating Systems Administration knowledge or experience.
  • Oracle Administration Certification or experience in Database Administration.
  • WildFly Administration Certification or experience with Application Servers.
  • HL7 Administration or Certification or experience in Communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with interoperability platforms.
  • Knowledge of BI tools, particularly QlikView.

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English is recommended.
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are a plus.

Mobility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel within the job's location area up to 80% of the annual working time.
  • Willingness to travel within Spain/Portugal up to 30% of the annual working time.
