About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Laboratory Operations Specialist to provide operational support to our research laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to lab standards and practices, and maximizing effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Provide administrative support to the laboratory team, including inventory control, procurement, and logistics.
  • Lab Instrumentation: Conduct regular checks on lab equipment to ensure calibration and maintenance, and provide training to end-users on basic equipment and lab processes.
  • Protocol Development: Develop and maintain laboratory operations protocols in accordance with Good Research Practices (GRPs) to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Supply Chain Management: Ensure standard supplies are stocked and specialty materials are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Lab Environment Monitoring: Log and analyze critical lab environment parameters, such as temperature and humidity.
  • Facility Interventions: Coordinate on-site facility interventions to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Education: Higher National Diploma in technical education (FP2) in sciences or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of work-related experience in a laboratory environment, with 1+ year of laboratory coordination experience.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and working knowledge of standard lab equipment and cell culture.
