The RoleAs Head of Project Development - West Europe, you will be responsible for developing a pipeline of projects for utility scale solar through land acquisition and investment, from permitting to ready to build stage. Your expertise will be crucial in leading relationships for co-development and partnership agreements, establishing relationships with landowners, municipals, project developers, and financial institutions across the region.
- Hold relevant experience in the energy sector, power business, and mergers & acquisitions in a complex environment.
- Lead relationships for co-development and partnership agreements.
- Establish relationships with landowners, municipals, project developers, and financial institutions across the region.
- Follow projects from land identification, development, permitting, through to contract closure.
- Possess an effective network with Grid Operators, land agents, and Governmental institutions.
- Be responsible for project delivery, leading various internal professionals in design, technical analysis, financial and commercial modelling, legal DD, and grid connection.
- Demonstrate an achievement of excellence in the workplace and continual process improvement.
- Demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit with solid business orientation rooted in value creation, understanding, investment analysis, revenue generation, cost optimisation, and a balanced approach to risk/reward.
- Oversee relationships with project stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Economics/Business or related fields; an MBA or any Master degree is an advantage.
- More than 10 years' experience in a similar senior management capacity and regional role with proven leadership and management experience with a successful track record and expertise in international business transactions, M&A, and project development.
- Strong commercial knowledge, risk management, and contractual negotiations, PPA.
- Storage and solar development experience (a minimum of 2GW conceptualised and completed).
- Capability to lead and challenge projects financially (capital structuring, financial modelling, and financial advisors) and technically (Consultants, EPC).
- Deep understanding of general transaction/bid management (managing internal resources/consultants/stakeholders), adhering to transaction timeline, and possess professional writing skills.
- Strong understanding and reliable track record of power project development (land, grid interconnection, permitting), Project Finance, and Energy Management.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written English proficiency), presentation skills, and ability to navigate and work in a matrix organisation with regional and senior management, investors, internal, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary teams, with the capability to interface efficiently with operational teams of all levels in a technical environment.
- Prior leadership experience is a must while also demonstrating a team player work style.
- Excellent analytical and synthesis skills demonstrating problem-solving & decision-making skills, meticulousness, and attention to detail.
- Creative, deal-focused, with the ability to build relationships and provide solutions.
This is a remote working role with extensive travel involved.
