About Amazon Key: Our patented building access technology is designed to enhance Amazon's Last Mile operations in the US, with plans for international growth.

Your Role: We are looking for a dynamic and versatile engineer who is enthusiastic about technological and business advancements. You will collaborate with a diverse team of hardware, firmware, software (mobile, backend, and frontend), and systems engineers to develop and integrate state-of-the-art technologies from IoT, wireless, and cloud computing into practical solutions for Ring customers, package transportation, logistics, and delivery.

Your software will empower Amazon customers to manage their access-control devices through a mobile application. You will be responsible for creating solutions for third-party partners, guiding them in the installation and configuration of IoT-enabled devices at properties via iOS and Android applications managed by Amazon Key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research, design, implement, document, and maintain both new and existing systems.
  • Create software services and tools to enhance the software development process, aiming for superior quality.
  • Engage in the entire development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring the highest quality standards for your deliverables.

Collaboration:

  • Work alongside product and UX teams to address customer challenges by proposing engineering solutions and evaluating trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with engineering colleagues to explore design options, prototype new technologies, and assess technical feasibility.
  • Participate in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software.
  • Connect with the Android development community across Amazon to share insights and foster growth.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain Android mobile applications and systems.
  • Develop new, secure, and reliable features that facilitate real-time data, video, and audio solutions.
  • Utilize contemporary Android development design patterns.
  • Propose innovative tools, frameworks, automations, and processes for the entire Android team.
  • Contribute to hiring and team development.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • 2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
