About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer Clinical LLMs to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). As a Research Engineer Clinical LLMs, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating existing biomedical corpora and derived NLP models. You will work closely with our team to develop multilingual information extraction models in the biomedical field, including mention extraction, linking of terms to controlled terminologies, and pre-training of crosslingual large language models for healthcare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust evaluation scenarios for AI model evaluation, covering standard quantitative and qualitative evaluation metrics and bias mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality NLP models for information extraction, including named entity recognition (NER) and entity linking.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement new NLP techniques and tools for biomedical text analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of technical reports and project documentation in both English and Spanish.
  • Collaborate in drafting technical research proposals and writing scientific papers.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Computational Linguistic, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Natural Language Processing technologies (publication track record or projects in the field of Deep Learning/NLP).
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate existing biomedical corpora and derived NLP models.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.
