Research Focus: Our work centers on the unique physical and chemical properties that emerge from the behavior of materials at the nanoscale. Recognized as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence, we host 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development Units, and 2 Research Platforms, each specializing in various aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Position Overview: We are seeking a PhD candidate to join our Advanced Electron Nanoscopy group, focusing on in-situ (S)TEM experiments related to catalysts, including single-atom catalysts and diverse nanostructures. This role is part of the AMADE PID2023 project, supported by AEI / MCIN, under the guidance of experienced researchers.
Project Goals: The primary aim is to facilitate correlative in-situ (S)TEM experiments that address critical scientific challenges aligned with sustainability initiatives. The project will provide essential tools for advanced characterization of materials under operational conditions, allowing for insights at the atomic level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced STEM and FIB equipment for the analysis of nanomaterials used in energy and catalysis.
- Design and execute in-situ experiments using specialized gas and liquid TEM sample holders.
- Conduct experiments with materials provided by project collaborators.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
Skills and Experience: A keen interest in mastering (S)TEM, electron microscopy techniques, and in-situ methodologies. Previous experience in these areas will be viewed favorably.
Personal Attributes: Strong teamwork capabilities and proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Employment Conditions:
