  • Contribute to Earth observation projects, focusing on both upstream (flight segment) and downstream applications.
  • Participate in interplanetary exploration and navigation initiatives.

  • Support system and mission design activities.

Main Duties:

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities:

  • Defining, designing, implementing, and validating environmental dynamics, spacecraft behavior, sensor, and actuator interactions for applications in Earth observation, interplanetary missions, and ADR/IOS satellites.
  • Creating and maintaining tools for model validation and version control.
  • Providing support for company-wide strategies aimed at enhancing code reusability and scalability.

Activities may include:

  • Specification and validation of simulation and modelling solutions.
  • Mathematical modelling and development of dynamic systems involving actuators, sensors, vehicles, launchers, and spacecraft.
  • Adapting simulation models in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensuring scalability, maintenance, and production of simulation infrastructure.
  • Conducting analysis and trade-offs of hardware solutions.
  • Collaborating with the overall system team.
  • Managing technical aspects of projects.

Education Requirements:

Essential: A recognized engineering degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering, or a related field (e.g., Physics, Mathematics).

Preferred: Postgraduate qualifications (MSc or PhD) with a specialization in aeronautical/aerospace engineering, demonstrating a solid foundation in at least two of the following areas:

  • Orbital mechanics and atmospheric flight dynamics.
  • Structural modelling for simulation purposes.
  • Model-based system engineering.

Professional Experience:

Essential: A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred: An engineer with 5 or more years of practical experience in relevant domains (MSc and PhD studies will also be considered).

The position will be adjusted according to the candidate's level of experience; additional industrial or academic experience will be viewed favorably.

Technical Skills:

Essential: The following capabilities are required:

  • Strong background in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience in modelling environmental and spacecraft dynamics.
  • Proficient software programming skills.
  • Competence in C language programming.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts applied to engineering challenges.

Preferred: The following capabilities are desired:

  • Physical modelling using Simscape.
  • Familiarity with Python programming.
  • Object-oriented programming experience.
  • Knowledge of XML.
  • Automatic code generation skills.
  • Software engineering experience.
  • Experience in flight operations within ESA/European programmes.

Language Proficiency:

Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
