Objective:

Ayuda en Acción is seeking a specialist in Education in Emergency (EiE) to enhance its capabilities and knowledge in this vital sector. Education is a primary focus of our development efforts, and we have substantial experience in this area.

As a member of the Emergency Unit, the EiE specialist will offer technical guidance and leadership at two distinct levels: at the headquarters, ensuring the organization's strategic positioning in the sector; and at the Country Programs level, enhancing the quality of projects and initiatives through training, support in project formulation, and the monitoring and evaluation of interventions related to EiE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an internal strategy for EiE by collecting insights and experiences from Ayuda en Acción;
  • Create a comprehensive intervention model for EiE within the organization;
  • Prepare and update capacity statements regarding Ayuda en Acción's EiE projects and develop advocacy strategies for the sector;
  • Provide technical support to National Programs in drafting project proposals for various donors and in monitoring different stages of actions;
  • Develop essential tools, guidelines, and protocols, ensuring consistency across all education initiatives;
  • Oversee the review of existing materials and/or the creation of new resources on EiE;
  • Design and refine simple monitoring and evaluation tools for EiE;
  • Actively engage in forums and working groups focused on EiE, leading Ayuda en Acción's involvement in the INEE network;
  • Advise and support Ayuda en Acción's National Offices in EiE discussions and working groups at the national level;
  • Create EiE training modules and programs that offer a comprehensive framework and practical tools for project implementation;
  • Facilitate training and support for local partners to enhance their understanding of institutional donor requirements and reporting related to EiE;
  • Ensure the production of high-quality reports;
  • Perform additional tasks as needed by the Emergency Unit Coordinator or Sectorial Responsible.

Requirements:

Knowledge and Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent in education or related fields;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in EiE within humanitarian contexts;
  • Previous experience in writing project proposals for various international donors;
  • Familiarity with the INEE framework;
  • Experience in conducting educational needs assessments and developing response plans;
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to manage multifaceted programs and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Experience in building partnerships and collaborating with local partners;
  • Effective time management skills.

Languages:

  • Essential:

Spanish: C1 advanced

English: C1 advanced

Highly Valued:

French: B2 Intermediate advanced

Geographical Mobility:

  • Positioned in Madrid, with a hybrid work format and flexibility to travel for short missions.

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows;
  • Familiarity with MEAL tools;
  • Understanding of Ayuda en Acción's operational contexts is advantageous.

  • Capacity to work independently and take initiative;
  • Willingness to travel nationally and regionally when necessary and safe;

  • Hybrid work format, 40 hours per week, with intensive work during summer.
