The Team:
We are in search of a seasoned Senior Manager with expertise in German tax compliance and reporting to bolster our Tax team.
The Role:
This position demands a comprehensive grasp of German tax legislation, regulatory frameworks, and reporting standards, coupled with a solid understanding of German GAAP principles. Experience with IFRS reporting and its tax implications on financial statements is advantageous. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of effectively managing tax compliance strategies and offering tax advisory services in a multinational context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage all facets of German tax compliance, including corporate income tax, trade tax, and various indirect taxes.
- Supervise the administration and optimization of R&D incentive programs, including tax-related FZUL grants.
- Ensure the timely and precise preparation and submission of tax returns in alignment with German tax laws and deadlines.
- Stay informed on evolving tax laws and regulations to maintain compliance and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and uphold comprehensive documentation to substantiate tax filing positions.
- Oversee the preparation and evaluation of tax-related inputs for German GAAP and IFRS financial statements, including tax provisions and disclosures.
- Assess and analyze deferred tax assets and liabilities, ensuring adherence to established requirements and corporate policies.
- Provide insights on complex accounting matters related to tax provisions and collaborate with finance teams on financial reporting.
- Assist in liaising with tax authorities during audits and respond to notices as required.
- Offer strategic tax counsel to senior management regarding tax planning initiatives, including restructuring, transfer pricing, and mergers and acquisitions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
- CPA, Steuerberater, or an equivalent professional certification in Germany is a plus.
- Significant experience (6+ years) in tax compliance and provision management, ideally within a multinational corporation or professional services firm.
- Profound knowledge of German tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards (HGB).
- Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail, with the capacity to interpret intricate tax and accounting issues.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in German is an advantage.
