Senior Manager, German Tax Compliance Expert

Job Summary:

Celonis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager to lead our German tax compliance efforts. As a key member of our Tax team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns in compliance with German tax regulations and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead German Tax Compliance: Oversee all aspects of German tax compliance, corporate income tax, trade tax, and other indirect taxes.
  • R&D Incentive Programs: Administer, manage, and optimize various R&D incentive programs, including FZUL grants for tax purposes.
  • Tax Return Preparation: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns in compliance with German tax regulations and deadlines.
  • Tax Law Monitoring: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and update internal stakeholders accordingly.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Develop and maintain proper documentation to support tax filing positions.
  • Financial Statement Review: Manage the preparation and review of tax-related input into German GAAP and IFRS financial statements, including tax provisions and related disclosures.
  • Deferred Tax Analysis: Calculate and analyze deferred tax assets and liabilities, ensuring alignment with proper requirements and corporate policies.
  • Accounting Guidance: Provide guidance on complex accounting issues related to tax provisions and collaborate with finance teams on financial reporting.
  • Tax Authority Communication: Assist in communicating with tax authorities on tax audits and notices as necessary.
  • Tax Planning and Strategy: Provide strategic tax advice and guidance to senior management on tax planning initiatives, including restructuring, transfer pricing, mergers, and acquisitions.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Certifications: CPA, Steuerberater, or equivalent professional certification in Germany is a plus.
  • Experience: Extensive experience (6+ years) in tax compliance and provision management, preferably in a multinational corporation or professional services firm.
  • German Tax Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of German tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards (HGB).
  • Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax and accounting issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in German is a plus.
