The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a distinguished non-profit organization located in Barcelona, committed to enhancing our comprehension of leukaemia and associated disorders. Research OverviewWe are in search of a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our multidisciplinary research team focused on the project titled "Multi-omics approach to improve therapeutic management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia," supported by AECC and led by Biola M. Javierre (IJC). The challenge of relapse in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is significant, with 50% of adult patients experiencing relapse and 90% of those failing to overcome the disease. Although the underlying causes of relapse remain partially understood, emerging evidence indicates that noncoding mutations may play critical roles in disease persistence. This project aims to utilize a multi-omics strategy to unravel the molecular foundations of ALL relapse and mortality, providing groundbreaking insights into the condition and aiding in the prediction of patient relapse, thereby facilitating the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
About the Javierre TeamOur team comprises dedicated scientists with a relentless pursuit of knowledge regarding the spatio-temporal organization of DNA. We integrate advanced experimental and bioinformatics methodologies to investigate the unique 3D chromatin architecture of hematopoietic cells and its alterations in blood cancers. Our long-term objective is to make significant strides in cancer treatment, with an unwavering commitment to finding a cure.
Main Responsibilities- Contribute to the multidisciplinary research team focusing on the project "Multi-omics approach to improve therapeutic management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia" under the guidance of Biola M. Javierre (IJC).
- Lead the computational analysis of the project and oversee data management.
- Supervise students and assist in grant application processes.
- Strong motivation and a keen interest in the field.
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following areas: genome organization, gene regulation, epigenomics, single-cell omics, GWAS, WGS.
- Aptitude for managing diverse workloads and a collaborative spirit.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
- Proficient in English, both spoken and written (Spanish is a plus).
- Three-year fully funded position with a salary commensurate with experience.
- Contract supported by Fundación Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (FAECC).
