Research Overview
We are in search of a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our multidisciplinary research team focused on the project titled "Multi-omics approach to improve therapeutic management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia," funded by AECC and led by Biola M. Javierre. The challenge of relapse in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is significant, with 50% of adult patients experiencing relapse and 90% of those unable to overcome the disease. Although the precise causes of relapse remain elusive, emerging evidence indicates that noncoding mutations may play crucial roles in disease persistence. This project aims to utilize a multi-omics strategy to elucidate the molecular foundations of ALL relapse and mortality, ultimately providing groundbreaking insights into ALL and relapse prediction, as well as proposing innovative therapeutic strategies to mitigate relapse and mortality.
About the Javierre Team
Our team consists of dedicated scientists driven by a relentless pursuit of knowledge regarding the spatio-temporal organization of DNA. We employ state-of-the-art experimental and bioinformatics methodologies to investigate the unique 3D chromatin architecture of haematopoietic cells and its alterations in blood cancers. Our long-term objective is to make significant strides in the battle against cancer, with a commitment to relentless progress until a cure is achieved. We maintain a close partnership with the group led by Alfonso Valencia at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Our primary research objectives include:
- Defining the cell type-specific 3D chromatin architecture in human haematopoietic cells.
- Identifying alterations in DNA topology associated with blood cancers.
- Investigating non-coding mutations to prioritize new candidate genes and pathways relevant to blood cancer.

Main Responsibilities- Contribute to the multidisciplinary research team focused on the project "Multi-omics approach to improve therapeutic management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia" funded by AECC.
- Lead the computational analysis of the project and oversee data management.
- Supervise students and assist in grant applications.
- Strong motivation and interest in the field.
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in at least one of the following areas: genome organization, gene regulation, epigenomics, single-cell omics, GWAS, or WGS.
- Aptitude for managing diverse workloads and a collaborative spirit.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in English (required); Spanish is a plus.
- Three-year fully funded position with a salary commensurate with experience.
