Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research and Development Manager to lead our product innovation efforts at Southern Processing Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the development of new food products from concept to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Product Development: Lead the development of new food products, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure they meet consumer needs, market trends, and company objectives.
  2. Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, consumer preferences, and competitor products, and use this information to inform product development decisions.
  3. Recipe Formulation: Formulate and test new recipes, ensuring they meet sensory, nutritional, and shelf-life requirements.
  4. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation in product lines and processes, and develop strategies to implement these changes.
  5. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of food scientists, technologists, and other R&D staff, and foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the R&D team.
  6. Project Management: Develop project timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  7. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all new and existing products comply with food safety regulations and industry standards, and collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement quality control measures.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure that products are compliant with all relevant laws.
  9. Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and support to production, marketing, and sales teams, and assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing solutions.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as food science, food technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a research and development role, preferably in the food industry.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
