About the Role

Overview

As a Datacenter Technician Intern, you will play a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for our cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Our global datacenter infrastructure is comprised of over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers, supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide. With a focus on environmental sustainability and optimization, we continue to evolve and grow as a world-class cloud provider.

Responsibilities

  • Support the deployment of on-site datacenter physical infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with our cloud services.
  • Install, replace, and troubleshoot cables and hardware, maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Handle data-bearing devices, such as hard drives and solid-state drives, with precision and care.
  • Work within a ticket-based environment, prioritizing tasks and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the movement of equipment using pallet jacks or other assisted lifting equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • As required, support the Datacenter Inventory and Asset Management Team (DIAT) with shipping/receiving and inventory management to address high work volumes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • One (1) year or more supporting IT equipment or related technology.

Security Clearances

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
