We are seeking a highly skilled Breeder - Plant Genetics Specialist to join our team at Enza Zaden. As a key member of our Tomato breeding department, you will be responsible for developing competitive tomato varieties that meet our long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities- Translate breeding targets into operational and tactical breeding plans, adjusting goals as needed to align with our crop strategy.
- Oversee breeding projects, ensuring timely completion and quality of results.
- Implement FAIR principles in data records, ensuring creation, update, and curation of detailed data records in various breeding software applications.
- Define data standards and quality controls for key decision milestones, organizing data analysis and steering colleagues on data-driven breeding approaches.
- Coach and motivate other breeders in the exchange of knowledge and material, implementing developed technology and traits in the breeding program.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and modern breeding techniques, actively participating in decision-making to advance varieties and plan productions and screening trials.
- Handover advanced varieties material to Seed Production, registering in designated countries, and proactively cooperating with commercial teams on joint market visits to obtain information on market trends and direction.
- Higher professional education (HBO, Bachelor) in a relevant field.
- 7+ years of experience in plant breeding, with experience in row field crops a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of plant breeding, modern methods of breeding, including quantitative genetics and phytopathology.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically, work under intense weather conditions, and possess a valid driver's license.
