About this role

The position is in the Country Management COO team to support the regional COO and Country manager across Spain, Portugal, and Andorra (Iberia).

The Iberia region covers over 41 employees, in one office (Madrid) and a branch of the BlackRock Netherlands B.V. (‘BNBV’) which is BlackRock’s EU hub for MiFID 2 regulated services.

The Business Manager plays a key role in bridging the gap across local business functions and with our globally centralised teams, but also by filling gaps to support local requirements as needed.

This is a multi-faceted role, which requires sound judgement, organizational and planning skills, analytical ability, and discretion, given the high level of confidentiality of information and data accessed.

You will adeptly navigate the firm, building strong and meaningful relationships across multiple businesses and guiding cross-functional groups towards a single objective. You will have the opportunity to drive scale, ensure consistency, and reduce risk.

The Business Manager team plays a key role in bridging the gap across local business functions and with our globally centralised teams, but also by filling gaps to support local requirements as needed.

Key responsibilities

Support the business and strategic change:

- Contribute to the development and execution of the Country Strategy (in close collaboration with Country Head, Country COO and Country Leadership team)
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc management information in support of local requirements
- Support on the recurring business reviews, budgeting process and forecast
- Coordinate with client businesses to execute on their growth strategy in the region.
- Ensure proper operational support for local sales and investment activities.
- Elaborate market and competitor intelligence reporting (Assogestioni analysis, Broadridge analysis update etc.)
- Collaborate with the central functions (es, EMEA FP&A) for the monitoring of the country actuals and budget numbers
- Coordinate briefing materials for senior management.
- Manage other strategic and tactical country level projects and change initiatives.
- Market intelligence insights to provide strategic guidance to sales teams.
- Actively manages the budgets (expenses, headcounts and revenue) by partnering with Finance and responds to ad hoc corporate requests from the business and regions.

Support Governance & oversight:

- Management of Iberia ExCo
- Support self-audits to ensure robust local operating environment
- Along with L&C, ensure adequate controls and effective governance of locally regulated legal entities.
- Perform self-check / self-audits at country level
- Proactively mitigate risks by appropriately challenging processes and procedures, continually enhancing the governance and control framework.
- Act as point of escalation in country and help navigate those points effectively
- Be responsible for an adequate and effective governance framework for the Country Offices
- Oversee key processes and procedures at the Country level and ensure effective controls are in place

Skills & Competencies
- 5+ years of experience in the financial industry or relevant business management experience
- Proactive, can-do attitude, a completer finisher skill and able to work autonomously
- Leadership, management, and team building excellence - demonstrated ability to manage a high-performing team with the ability to attract, develop, and retain talent
- Experience in project management and business process review, design, and implementation
- Ability to navigate and influence stakeholders
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal, written, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to understand, frame, and communicate complex issues simply
- Excellent attention to detail and solid data analytics capabilities
- Knowledge of sustainable investment is an advantage
- Sound knowledge of the financial sector
- Fluency in English
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion
- Strong financial and business analytical abilities
