The Vice-President of Philanthropy is accountable for all non-technical fundraising, primarily from private sources including Foundations, Corporate Partners, and Individuals.
Working with the Leadership Team, the Vice-President of Philanthropy will shape fundraising strategies to achieve funding growth goals of the OIC Strategic Plan.
The Vice-President of Philanthropy will also manage a portfolio of donors.

Opportunity International Canada is seeking a Vice President of Philanthropy to join their Leadership Team, provide oversight to the Philanthropy Team, mentoring and coaching to meet funding targets.
THE JOB The Vice-President of Philanthropy is accountable for all non-technical fundraising, primarily from private sources including Foundations, Corporate Partners, and Individuals.
Working with the Leadership Team, the Vice-President of Philanthropy will shape fundraising strategies to achieve funding growth goals of the OIC Strategic Plan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In collaboration with the Leadership Team, establish strategies to achieve the private funding growth goals and Key Performance Indicators of the Opportunity International Canada Strategic Plan and annual Operating Plans.
Lead the Philanthropy Team, set individual objectives, provide coaching for success, mentor in best practices, lead by example, and hold team members accountable for fundraising processes and outcomes.
Develop actionable strategies for meeting and exceeding philanthropy goals through grants, sponsorships, gifts, donations, and fundraising events.
Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals as appropriate to grow revenue and to lead by example, while respecting Philanthropy Team regional boundaries.
In collaboration with the CFO, prepare annual philanthropy revenue budget, by Director, and by donor, event, or initiative.
In collaboration with the CFO, track monthly fundraising, highlight anticipated deviations from budget and adapt tactics to respond to revenue shortfalls.
Work within the scope of the annual OIC Program Portfolio for donor proposals.
Collaborate with the Program Team in the preparation of specific proposals to engage larger donors.
Collaborate with the Operations Team to execute events with excellence, to efficiently oversee mid/mass donors, to make effective use of the donor database, and in the preparation of marketing collateral to support fundraising initiatives.
In collaboration with the HR resources of the Operations Team, invest in the professional development of the Philanthropy Team.
In collaboration with the Leadership Team, build the capacity of the Philanthropy Team to achieve growth goals, within cost constraints.
In collaboration with the Operations Team, ensure the accurate capture of fundraising data.
Liaise with the global Opportunity International Philanthropy Forum to exchange best practices.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Bachelor's degree minimum, Master's degree preferred in business administration or equivalent.
CFRE designation considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE 5+ years of successful not-for-profit fundraising.
5+ years of experience in coaching teams towards excellence.
Proven success at raising and retaining a $1M annual portfolio of major donors; comparable experience in corporate sales will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of non-profit sector and CRA fundraising rules and guidelines.
Strong business knowledge, ability to think/strategize in a number of business environments.
Exceptional knowledge of philanthropy strategies/public relations to build brand awareness and donor confidence.
WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able to work weekends and evenings; schedule is often determined by donor availability and/or fundraising events.
Must be willing to work long hours to reach fundraising deadlines.
Must be willing to travel to meet with potential donors.
