The Role

At Creators International School, we believe that studying STEM subjects is the key to understanding the world around us. We seek a visionary mathematics, science and technology leader with an unwavering passion for developing innovative STEM learning through nurturing technology, research and inquiry skills. We are looking for a leader to inspire and guide our students and teachers in STEM subjects, fostering a passion for learning, and expanding their knowledge and understanding. You will also be responsible for shaping a groundbreaking approach to learning, and for creating an engaging and dynamic department, in which staff and students feel empowered to develop their STEM skills, apply them effectively and realise their dreams and aspirations. You will also nurture a spirit of entrepreneurism and creativity to enable our students to be the tech pioneers of tomorrow.

Key responsibilities:

• Inspiration: Be a charismatic leader who provides inspirational leadership for the department. Inspire students to pursue STEM fields with enthusiasm and confidence. Inspire teachers to develop exceptional pedagogical and caring skills.
• Build a stellar team: Assemble and nurture a dream team of passionate educators who share your vision, dedication, and commitment to fostering the next generation of STEM leaders and experts.
• Innovative curriculum: Develop a comprehensive and unique programme that challenges and engages students, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Subject Mastery: Bring extensive knowledge and experience in mathematics, physics, computer science, and other scientific fields, including a track record of success in Olympiads and competitive international examinations.
• Management: Manage the departmental budget and resources effectively to ensure that the department operates seamlessly, allowing teachers to focus on learning and teaching, and enables students to excel in their learning journey.
• Care: Nurture excellent pastoral care, safeguarding and maintain high expectations of effort and behaviour.

Development of skills, subject knowledge and understanding

• Nurture a focus on inquiry-based, research, practical and key subject skills, knowledge and understanding.
• Support teachers in developing student independent, critical thinking, and study skills.
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, through encouraging differentiated learning and teaching styles, and individualised learning plans for each student.
• Promote an interdisciplinary approach that highlights the interconnectedness of mathematics, science and technology.
• Encourage students to explore the relationships between these fields to gain a deeper appreciation of the complexities of our technological world.
• Cultivate a global perspective and challenge students to understand the impact of STEM on global society and how it can improve our lives.
• Foster an environment where students can think critically about the development of mathematics, science and technology and how key works impact our thinking, how they influenced one another, and why some outcomes differed or are aligned.
• Develop student's strategic thinking skills by helping them recognize patterns, trends, and commonalities across STEM subjects.
• Develop and implement an engaging and interactive programme that cultivates interdisciplinary skills and promotes critical thinking.
• Develop and implement learning activities that foster curiosity, creativity, and exploration among teachers and students.
• Design and manage learning spaces, especially the science and technology labs, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for students.
• Collaborate with, and support teachers, by finding resources to match their curriculum units.
• Allow for diverse ways of demonstrating evidence of student learning in order to evaluate and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback and support to students, parents and teachers.

Person Profile and Qualifications

• Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
• Bachelor's degree plus a Master's degree or Doctorate in mathematics, science and/or technology, covering at least two of these fields.
• Valid teaching qualification, EU-recognised preferred.
• Strong STEM leadership experience in international schools, with experience of A-Level and Further Level and Olympiad level international competitions in mathematics and science.
• Strong knowledge of, and experience of teaching, inquiry-based, interdisciplinary, project-based and research skills, and their application in real-world contexts.
• Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.
• Accomplished in using technology and digital tools to enhance learning and teaching.
• Familiarity with current international education standards and best practices in STEM education.
