This new leadership position is designed to bring greater consistency and innovation to the approaches to learning in order to raise standards and improve student outcomes.

Laude San Pedro teaches international students from 3 to 18 years old following the English National Curriculum up to GCSEs and A Levels.

There is also a pathway following Spanish ESO & Bachillerato studies.

You will work within a context of significant international student rotation and integrating a high proportion of EAL & SEND students for mainstream classroom success.

Our curriculum implementation is key to providing our young people with the powerful knowledge, understanding and competencies to succeed in their futures.

The role will be to lead on our learning and teaching strategy ensuring exceptional classroom practice at our school.

We would expect you to be able to guide our SLT & MLT leaders in challenging and extending their pedagogical practice.

The challenge will involve developing teams to deliver higher impact lessons, drive academic improvement and manage smart assessment strategies.

Purpose of the Role:


This position is a key one for the School's Extended Leadership Team, reporting to the Principal, and leading the Academic Leadership and Learning Teams.

They will be a key interlocutor with the Regional Directors of Learning and network effectively with other ISP schools.

The Deputy Head (Learning and Innovation) will provide direction, inspiration, and guidance to the Academic Heads & others, and will maintain and improve the learning standards and impact of educators.

The role strategically supports the positioning of Laude San Pedro as the School of Choice in our region, as well as being a strong academic and professional support of the Principal.

The Deputy Head for Learning and Innovation will drive learning in three key areas:

  • For our students, you will lead all activity to ensure that they consistently get better through "good struggle". You will inspire our learning community, often through frequent learning visits to classes, and lead the use of data to drive individual and collective standards and outcomes
  • For teachers, either individually (e.g. through Professional Development, coaching, advice to MLT) or in teams (Leading the Learning)
  • For driving academic improvements through the school, using the Learning Improvement Process (LIP), to reflect upon areas of improvement and to increase learning and add value to the results of internal and external assessments

Key Accountabilities:

You will be the key driver of the following:

  • Learning Improvement Process (LIP): Use the ISP nine learning criteria as a vehicle for continual school improvement
  • Leading the Learning: Use learning observations, design and inquiry visits, to identify best practice for high impact learning lessons and create action plans for improvement
  • TLSE (Teacher Learning Self Evaluation) program: ensure teaching staff and leaders reflect upon their impact on learning, and develop learning targets for continuous improvement
  • Professional Development / Leading Professional Learnings Sessions for

Staff Development:
identify key areas of focus for PL opportunities (eg. NABSS, ISP Teach Meets, Learning Hub, external providers, research sharing) and to act as a resource for faculty interested in growing as individuals and teams, and to offer in-service sessions to help faculty acquire new insights, understanding and skills to positively impact the learning of their pupils

  • SPA

Life Competencies:
to ensure the emerging ISP-SPA Life Competencies are clearly formulated, understood and supported throughout the school curriculum and co-curricular activities, and evidence is collected and shared to demonstrate how each pupil is developing and challenged in these areas

  • Technology Integration and Innovation: to look critically at the school ́s technology offer and determine short and longterm plans for the use of technology to improve learning, such as new developments in AI, blended learning, 1:1 device, etc
  • Data Collection and Interpretation to Improve the

Academic Offer:
to drive teams to collect and triangulate data to inform instructional changes to improve learning, such as target setting and programme review

  • School Reviews and Authorizations: organize and run school reviews such as Best Practice Network, NABSS and ensure all school license aspects are completed and secured
  • SEND provision: alongside the academic heads
