What we are looking for

The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences is currently initiating a recruitment process to appoint a lecturer for the course “Communication and Community for Non-Profit Organizations” within the Master’s Degree in Cooperation, Development, and Social Economy. We are seeking a candidate with significant professional or academic experience who can articulate the fundamentals of institutional communication in our current media and communicative landscape. The ideal candidate will also teach how to develop key strategies to expand the supporter base of a nonprofit entity and effectively communicate, engage, and retain individuals within the community of an organization. The course aims to equip students with the skills to understand and implement communication strategies that foster community involvement and supporter loyalty, crucial for the sustainability and growth of nonprofit entities.

We offer

  • A part-time Associate Lecturer position to teach a 3 ECTS credit course (30 teaching hours) at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at UIC. This position is fully compatible with other professional and teaching activities.
  • The classes are scheduled to take place in the last quarter of 2024, during evening hours. Classes will commence in October 2024, aligning with the launch of the first edition of the master's program.

Requirements

We are seeking a lecturer who may come from one of two distinct profiles, both of which are of interest to us and eligible for the selection process:

Profile 1: Experienced Communication Professional

  • An individual with extensive experience in institutional communication, skilled in media relations, crafting press releases, orchestrating advertising campaigns, and managing social media profiles for nonprofit or similar organizations.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of communication strategies and their implementation to enhance community engagement and supporter loyalty.

Profile 2: Academic and Researcher in Communication and Community Building.

  • A university professor or researcher who has dedicated their academic career to studying and teaching communication strategies with a focus on community building and institutional communication.
  • Must be able to provide comprehensive insight into communication theories and practices, with a special emphasis on their application within nonprofit and community-oriented organizations.

Assessment criteria

The following aspects of the applicant’s CV will be taken into consideration:

  • Proven record of effective teaching.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to supervise and guide undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects.
  • Knowledge and respect for the values rooted in the Christian identity of the university
