Senior Software Engineer

AstraZeneca seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop AI-native software accelerating clinical trials in Barcelona. The role combines full-stack development with AI integration, requiring daily production code ownership across backend and frontend systems in a regulated healthcare environment. Responsibilities Write and own production-ready code across backend services and frontend applications Design and implement LLM-powered workflows and AI-driven user experiences Build scalable backend services, APIs, and data streaming pipelines for clinical trial platforms Establish AI development conventions, prompt patterns, and quality standards for engineering teams Troubleshoot production issues and implement reliability improvements Requirements ~5+ years shipping production software systems ~ Backend proficiency in Java, Node.js, or equivalent language ~ Frontend experience with TypeScript, React, or React Native ~ RESTful and GraphQL API design and implementation experience ~ Daily practical experience with AI-assisted development tools ~ Production LLM integration experience beyond prototypes ~ CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes proficiency
