Madrid, Community of Madrid, España PropHero Jornada completa
PropHero is an AI & data-powered platform simplifying property investment. Backed by global VCs and founded by McKinsey alumni, we're growing fast and building the future of property investment. Join a transparent, respectful and flexible environment, surrounded by ambitious people working together to make property investment as simple as investing in shares or ETFs. The Challenge As PropHero has grown, so have our data and systems. We're now looking for a Data Architect to define and lead the evolution of our operational data architecture, creating a single source of truth for the company's key data. You'll combine architecture, technical leadership and hands-on execution, transforming how we model, protect, integrate and migrate data without disrupting day-to-day operations. This is a high-impact role where you'll define the architecture and lead its implementation domain by domain.

Key responsibilities
• Design PropHero's common data model, defining core business entities, their relationships and a unique, consistent identity across domains.
• Define the data architecture and governance model, establishing who can access which data and which controls are needed to guarantee its integrity and security.
• Design the migration strategy between systems, avoiding "big bang" migrations and ensuring the business can continue operating throughout the process.
• Lead domain-by-domain migrations, until each key piece of data has a single system of record.
• Work directly with different teams to define data ownership, integrations, responsibilities and transition roadmaps.
• Design reconciliation, validation and rollback mechanisms to measure migration progress and react quickly when something goes wrong.
• Establish best practices for database evolution, including versioned migrations, CI/CD and automated controls before production.
• Act as a hands-on Tech Lead and Data Architect: you'll have ownership of the technical what and how, working alongside a squad with deep business knowledge.
• Approximately 50% of your time will be focused on architecture, strategy, governance and data modelling, with the other 50% dedicated to implementation and production code.
• Once the transition is complete, you'll continue as the owner of PropHero's operational data platform.

Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering.
• 5+ years designing and operating relational databases in production, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience in a Technical Lead role.
• Strong experience in data modelling, database architecture and advanced SQL.
• Proven experience with production database migrations, ideally live/zero-downtime migrations with reconciliation and rollback strategies.
• Experience solving data consistency and entity identity problems across multiple systems.
• Strong understanding of database security, roles, permissions and governance.
• Experience with versioned schema migrations and CI/CD controls.
• Hands-on experience with TypeScript or Python and Git-based development workflows.
• Familiarity with AWS managed databases such as RDS/Aurora and technologies such as CDC, Debezium, queues or event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi or similar).
• Understanding of the boundary between operational and analytical data, with exposure to tools such as dbt, Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Experience working in product companies where the operational database is critical to the business.
• You are still hands-on and comfortable writing production code.
• Native Spanish and English B2+.
