Data Architect

Stormbringer AI is building the sovereign analytics engine that Europe's defense and government institutions need to regain control over their data-driven decisions. The platform runs entirely within each customer's own secure perimeter, which means Stormbringer AI never has access to sensitive data. Operators build their own analytical tools using natural language, without an engineering team in the loop, which puts advanced analytics within reach of the people who actually sign the decision. Every tool is auditable by design, and the engine is certified once rather than application by application, so compliant decision-making holds at scale. Stormbringer AI is a venture of Arquetipo, the studio that originates and operates European sovereign capabilities. The founding team comes from building military-grade data and AI platforms in the aerospace and defense sector. Role Description The Data Architect at Stormbringer AI will design and evolve the data architectures that support secure, sovereign analytics for defense and government clients. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Madrid, with flexibility for partial work from home. Day to day, you will define data models, design data flows, and establish the standards for data governance and data quality across the platform. You will collaborate with the engineering team on ETL processes and data warehousing solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance with security and regulatory requirements. You will also partner with product and customer stakeholders to translate analytical needs into robust data structures and documentation, and to keep improving the data ecosystem as the platform grows. This is a hands-on role. The architect here writes code, reviews the code of others, and lives with the consequences of their own design decisions. If your last three years have been diagrams and presentations, this is not the right fit. Qualifications Strong foundation in data architecture and data modeling, to design scalable, secure, and maintainable data structures. Experience in scalable and massive data processing. Experience with data governance practices, including data quality, security, lineage, and compliance frameworks. Hands-on expertise with Extract Transform Load (ETL) pipelines and data warehousing solutions in modern data platforms. Proficiency with SQL and at least one programming language commonly used for data, such as Python or Scala. Experience designing data solutions in secure or regulated environments, for example government, defense or finance, is highly beneficial. Familiarity with cloud and on-premises data architectures, including hybrid deployments and containerized workloads. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, to communicate complex data concepts clearly, and to document architectures and standards. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered. Fluency in English.
